The special feature of the family center is that it offers family-oriented as well as social-space-oriented offers. This means that different offers are "open" and all families from the district can use them, even if no child of the family is cared for in the institution. The offer for parents and families is concentrated in family centers:

• Exchange and encounter (e.g. parent café, groups of crabs)
• Advice on issues of education, marriage and family, pregnancy conflicts or health issues (e.g. midwife, mother and father consultation, baby massage)
• Communication to specific advisory bodies (e.g. education counselling, debt counselling)
• Parent and family education (thematic parents' evenings, mother-child groups, parents-child cooking classes etc.)
• Support for parents in education (parent school/parent training)
